I am going to enter the Individual Silver fish league on Woodlands View in January so decided to go and have a crack at it today to do a bit of worm and caster fishing.
I was quite relaxed going into this as wasn't sure what to expect as hadn't been there for a while so decided on an out and out worm and caster approach and see what happens. The bait arrived on Friday in the usual pristine condition from the team at the Angling Bait Club so with a kilo of worm and 2 pints of caster I headed up to Droitwich for a crack.
I drew peg 9 on Arles which I have been on before at the CIPs league last year so it had a familiar feel to it. I decided on two main lines, one at top 5 and one at 13m, both where fed with chopped worm and healthy dash of caster.
I enjoyed a great match, it wasn't no where near enough to win, the carp where all holed up on the opposite bank and the guy who drew on them weight 105lb for an easy win.
I ended up with about 17lb of Roach and a awesome 2 to 3 lb Perch which was my PB Stripey. I'd had bites all day long and had some clonking Roach. It had served a good purpose too as an insight into the silvers fishing on offer there and am now really looking forward to the Silvers league that kicks off on Jan 3rd.
