Hello! Sorry for the delay in posting but I had a problem with the website meaning I couldnt post any updates!
Thankfully the nice people at Weebly have helped me to reslove it, so I am now back on line and normal service will be resumed.
Since the last post fishing wise i've been to Manor Farm a good few times, Holgan Farm and Woodlands View for Fish o Mania Qualifier.
In between all of that I also went on my holidays to Maderia for two weeks with the family and had a great time but with no fishing.
In recent weeks as my family has a caravan in West Wales I fished Ian Heaps's Holgan Farm for the first time. I have to say what a fantastic fishery it is, beautiful surroundings well maintained and a very friendly welcome to boot.
The open was on the Match Lake which was stocked with decent size Carp, but on a very hot day when I got to my peg it looked as if a few of them were spawning in the margins with lots of thrashing and splashing.
I chose to fish well away from the area's where the spawning was taking place so not to foul hook or interupt the natural goings on of the season and I had a lovely days fishing. I caught some propper lumps down the edge just off the next platform on pellet and corn that and also on the Pellet Waggler for about 4th or 5th in the match.
It was a really impressive place though and all the fish were very fit and in great condition. I'll be going back there this coming weekend for another go and this time be better prepared for the hard fighting Holgan Carp.
Check out http://www.ian-heaps.com/ for more details on the fishery.
Following this match I fished the Fish o mania qualifier on Woodlands View which was my one and only ticket this year.
I drew peg 20 on Hay lake and was very happy as it was an end peg with a little bit of room to my left had side. There was reeds in front and to the side and an Aerator just off the left hand bank so it had to hold a few fish.
I started on the pellet feeder in tight to the reeds in front and got off to a great start with a Carp in the net 2nd cast, it wasnt exactly solid though and fishing the edge, in front, pellet feeder and 5m lines I could only out 38lb on the scales. Unfortunatley the section was only won with 46lb and I lost 6 good fish to the Aerator on my left which would have at least picked up an envelope for my troubles.
Not to worry though there's always next year!!
This coming weekend (which is the glorious 16th!) I'll be back to Holgan farm so now my website is back to normal will update on how I got on.
