The past month I haven't fished a lot of matches, for various reasons. I have been fishing though and enjoyed a few lovely sessions on Festival Park Lake, in my home town of Ebbw Vale. The fishing there is superb with loads of Tench, Crucians, Carp and silvers to be caught.
The last session I had there was on a beautiful summer day, and after catching a few nice roach early on the tench, crucians and natural Carp moved in which resulted in a few lost hooklengths as they certainly scrap a bit but also a few in the net!
There are some pictures in a gallery below of the sort of fish you can expect from this cracking lake.
I also fished a match at Holgan Farm, on the crucian lake. This was a blistering hot day and the fishing was surprisingly difficult. I managed 4th with 16lb of Crucians and tench, reports were that the lake had fished very un characteristically hard for some reason but it was still a nice day in a peg that looked more like an old estate lake!
