I didn't have any matches planned for this weekend so arranged for my good friend and freelance photographer Neil Roberts to take a few snaps of fishing at Festival Park Lake http://www.festivalanglingclub.com/ .
The photo's were needed for Browning and with this being such a picturesque lake and only a mile away from home it seemed the ideal location to do it.
I've been meaning to join this club for a while as is so local and offers some great fishing so this was the perfect excuse. After joining I headed for peg 11in the top corner by the car park and set up for a short session. I set up my champions choice 10ft super bomb and 2 pole rigs. One light rig for silvers and one slightly heavier one for carp or tench.
Although this was only a matter of minutes drive from home I hadn't fished here before so took a wide range of baits with me to try.
I started by feeding some chopped worm and groundbait on a 13m line and some pellets and corn 13m to a weed bed.
The line straight in front resulted in some lovely roach but was only when I went on the weed bed line on corn did the sport really hot up. I had some lovely Crucian Carp and a couple of tench around 1lb 12oz mark and it was a great couple of hours fishing.
It was nice not only to fish a new venue but to catch some lovely fish outside of a match conditions.
Thanks to Neil we also got some great photo's that hopefully will be used at browning, i'll add some of the better ones to this website shortly. I would add if your looking for a freelance photographer then you wont find much better than Neil under his NCR Photography.
